How my family sees Sherlock; the series.

Sherlock : The series.

First of all, let me state that I love this show. But I did not exactly watch it by myself. No. I watched it with my almost-entire family. Lets begin with their point of view`s of the show before I give mine, shall we? 

From my grandma`s point of view : I don`t like this guy. He acts like an evil psycho. And he has no class. *Turns to my mother and says* remember the Sherlock Holmes during MY time? SO much class! With is smoking pipe and hat and coat! *Walks away tutting.*

From Nar`s point of view : *Glances at the show(episode 1 Season 1)* This show is gay. There`s not enough hot chicks. I`m not watching two gay dudes in London solve gay crimes. Gay gay gay gay good day. *Heads up to his room*

From my youngest bro`s point of view(he`s 10) : *Is drawing in his book. Then looks up at me and asks*

 Who`s Minecraft?

His name is MYCROFT!!

From my mothers point of view : *keeps using her laptop while watching the show. Then looks up and says* So, what`s going on? Has Sherlock said `It`s elementary, my dear Watson.` yet?

From my dads point of view : They are solving crimes while all of you sit around WATCHING them solve crimes. Go outside and solve crimes of your own, for goodness sake  Your bottom`s gonna grow large with you staring at the screen all day! Shoo! (ME : It`s the night. The night equals TV.) *He walks away complaining about modern-day children.*

~I spend so much of time and effort downloading the entire series to watch in peace, then they go and spoil it for me! I, for one, enjoy a good detective show that makes me think! Sheesh! This is exactly why one should not watch awesome programs with their family. I wanted to watch it on a big screen(house TV, not laptop) for the effects. Not again. NOT AGAIN.

(Waits eagerly for Season 3 to be released. Anyone knows when?)

1Q84 book one review

1Q84 is a book written by Haruki Murakami. What I write now is my personal view of the first book in the trilogy and it contains spoilers. 

~Let me just start by saying that the first of the three books is 442 pages long. Some books end in that many pages or less. This book, however, took this many pages to progress painfully slow... If I had bought just book one, I would not have bought the next book because the cliffhanger at the ending was... not a cliffhanger... Probably why the book is sold as a trilogy in one book...

~Character wise, the characters are pretty well developed (well, yeah. The author had 442 pages to develop them. I`m still not sure what the plot is though.) I`m also slightly confused as to why there were so many sexual scenes. I mean, why?? Couldn`t he and his girlfriend(which i`m pretty sure is still unnamed unless I missed reading her name somewhere.) be just be having tea for once? Meh. I`m still a kid, I wouldn`t get it.

 ~For now, I gather that the plot for Aomame`s part of the story is that she has to... erm... I`m not sure yet. As far as I know now, the dog Bun exploded. This reminded me of a conversation I had with Nix back when I was attending school. We talked about spontaneous human combustion. Yeah, people randomly going up in flames. 

~So as far as I gather, Aomame is this pro killer (kills people with an ice pick, LIKE A BOSS!) who`s also an exercise trainer. Her name means green peas. She kills evil men. She`s the one who somehow got into the new world with two moons. Then she named the new world 1Q84. I think she transferred worlds when she was climbing down the emergency stairway and reminiscing an event with an old friend(Tamaki) who she had an sexual encounter with. (See?? Chapter 3 and i`m having sexual stuff shoved in my face!) 

~In this new world, things have changed. There`s also this new religion/occult thing called Sakigake. Near the ending of the first book, we meet a new character introduced by the dowager (the old lady she works for by killing men who abuse their wives) called Tsubasa. (It means `wings` in English.) Tsubasa talks about the Little People. Before this, however, most of Aomame`s story was about her needing to get laid... And making a police officer partner(Ayumi) to help her in her conquest...

~Tengo is an interesting character. He teaches maths in a cram school three times a week and is working on becoming a published novelist. His story begins with him talking to a man named Komatsu. He wants a story called Air Chrysalis to be added into the finals. Komatsu says nah, lets let you rewrite it and make it awesome. Then we can make it more famous! And so Tengo agrees. (FYI, this is illegal during that period.)

~So Tengo meets up with Fuka-Eri, the original author of Air Chrysalis. (Rae spoiled this one for me by telling me she`s an alien! At least her spoiler peaked my interest in the book.) Fuka-Eri reminds me of a Mary Sue... Anyway, the main plot in Tengo`s part of the story was him rewriting the book and it becoming best seller. Also, his relationship with Fuka-Eri.Fuka-Eri speaks of the Little People, too. I wonder what they are...

~There`s a part in the book where it is mentioned that Tengo dislikes responsibility, which is why he wants an older girlfriend. (So she can take the lead, apparently.) He also dislikes being the leader of groups. And he`s super talented in many aspects of life. Yeah. I enjoy his conversations with his older girlfriend.

~My favourite character so far would be Tengo`s girlfriend. Probably because of the last chapter. I find her as a very cool, relaxed lady. Sure, she`s cheating on her husband, but there`s this sort of aura that radiates from her speech when I read about her. It`s like she`s contended with her life. (The part where she doesn`t want to change the past.) Yet she knows lots, like how she`s able to differentiate `lunatic` and `insane`. 

~This part of the book is my favourite! Cause now when I look at the moon, I can ask people if they know the difference between a lunatic and insane person! FYI, `Insane` is a person with probable mental problems. `Lunatic` is to have your sanity temporarily seized by the moon, (Luna, hence lunatic.) as said so in the book.

~I`m also bugged by the fact that the first book took place during April up to June, but there was not even one mention of the Sakura Season! Whenever I think of Japan, the first image that pops up in my mind is those pink flowered trees. I do recall reading how it rained very much there though... It rains everywhere in the world, not new news...

 ~I guess it`s not fair since i`m comparing this book to most adventure books I have read, which have very many events occur in very few chapters. In 1Q84 it`s like you`re following the life of Aomame and Tengo in whatever they do. When they eat, when they sleep, practically everything! The story takes time to progress, but I do enjoy the conversations the characters have. They often leave me pondering about their conversations, which is a thing I fancy about this book.

~My gosh! I feel like an idiot for reviewing the book this way, when it seems the rest of my friends (which are two, to be exact. I`m a lonely person.) liked the book(s) lots. Not to say I dislike the first book. No. I like it. (I read it, didn`t I?) It`s just that I usually read fast paced books. This book is a change for me, absorbing and entwining me slowly with the two antagonists. It brings up many thoughts and issues to contemplate on.

~Overall, I suggest that if you plan on reading this book, buy the trilogy, not book one alone.

Upside Down movie rewiew

1/5/2012 - Saturday.

~On Friday(yesterday) Kritini came over at around 11:30A.M. This meant that I had to wake up by 10 to prepare for her arrival. Not. Cool. Now I`m so tired I think I`m going to faint on my keyboard..... Anyway, she came here and we had lunch then went to Queensbay. Met some short dude there, her bf apparently(No offence intended, he was as tall as her....) Shush! This is a Serket!

~Upside Down =)

~We watched a movie called Upside Down. The story surrounds a male named Adam, who`s from Down Under. There they have double gravity and all. Anyway, Adam falls in love with a girl, Eden,  from Up Top. Cha! Forbidden Love! Adam`s from the slums, Eden`s from the rich. Usual love story thing.  I`m not one who usually watches romance flims, but Adam`s determination was charming.

~What made me attracted to watch this movie was the idea of dual gravity. That was awesome! Imagine looking up and seeing another person staring back at you. xD And the mountain scene where it rains but the rain falls upwards, that`s so cool!

~Yesterday, me and Nar watched this video called Man Cleaning The Cobra Pit. The MaximBady dude`s face expressions are priceless! So, Nar goes and asks Nil what `flying ****` means over the phone, and I was sitting next to him when he asked the question. (Eavesdropping nyeh nyeh) Yesterday I did not know the answer. Today I do. I am a little wiser today compared to yesterday thanks to Upside Down for providing the answer.

~ The movie Upside Down had a scene where they were rotating/floating in the air, kissing and stuff. The stranger sitting beside me started laughing, causing me to laugh too ._. Anyway, I think the cinemas cut a few scenes, cause suddenly she was pregnant at the end, and she was not laid the entire movie! How is that possible? Anyway, they were floating/flying and doing it, I suppose? So, the Da Vinci Code is solved. What they did was a `flying ****`.

~Ok, also, yesterday night after posting my last crappy post, I stumbled across this website.

~I`m reading THIS IS NOT FICTION at the moment, and MY GOSH it`s hilarious!

Coming across this websites reminded me that I used to read and follow MAOH (Minor Acts Of Heroism) a few months back. So I Googled it and realized that I`m already 2 chapters behind! I read the chapters yesterday before starting with THIS IS NOT FICTION. MY GOSH I MISS READING COMICS!!!! <3

~Oh! And I saw Assassin's Creed book at Borders at QB!!!! I wanted to buy it sooo bad, but I didn`t know if it was the first book in the series.... *Walks away feeling dejected* I should have bought it.... Never mind, I`ll just play the game when I go to Johor.... Aj has all three of the games!

~ Have to sleep early cause I gotta go visit Taylor`s tomorrow. Also, Kritini wants to use my laptop. She`s staying the night. Toodles!! <3

Happy belated last Sunday of the year and last Monday of the year too!! Goodbye 2012, hell~oo 2013!!

~Today`s also my grandpa`s(I call him Apupa, his name is Jaganathan) 80th birthday!! Happy Birthday Grandpa!!!! <3 I flew back from Johor to Penang yesterday on Air Asia. My first time flying alone! It was an awesome experience cause I barely said 10 words the whole trip. During the flight, I read 1Q84 while eating a sausage bun my aunty bought for me (Thanks!) I got the window seat (27F). Beside me was a man who slept the whole flight. The view outside the window was.... dark xD Evening flight (7:50P.M. flight). Reached the airport at around 9:30P.M. Mom met me at the gate and took me home~ I miss my cousins so much already!!

27/12/12 - Thursday.

~Somehow, I`ve ended up at Johor. Ok, not `somehow`. Yesterday I  decided to follow my cousins to Johor an hour before they left. >_< Just me. No parents. I`m at Aj and Nil`s house now. I haven`t been here since I was what, 12? Yeah. Pretty long time ago. Last time I came here was with my parents and we went to Singapore. Can`t recall much of the event (main reason why I write everything that happens in a blog now).

 

~Anyway, yesterday we watched The Corpse Bride. Freaking awesome movie and animation!! I felt like it was a totally new world(probably was) and I would have loved to visit that world, but not live in it. The story was romance based, which is usually not to my taste. But this movie was awesome. Made me feel all blushy and I even found myself warning Victor at the part where he went to visit Victoria in her room. Then me and Aj started scolding Victoria for telling her parents what she saw. I mean, come on, wanna go to the psycho ward, lady? Wonderful movie, made me feel feelings.

 ~I stayed up late going online on my phone and reading manga. Slept at 4am as usual. Today morning I woke up at around 10:30a.m.(Very early for me, considering I`ve been sleeping at 4am and waking up at 12pm in Kuala Lumpur) We had breakfast and then watched Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (1). Comedy. Good one too, laughed lots~

~After lunch I bought Sims 3 from Steam. They were having a promotion~ Played the game for awhile, then had lunch. Been eating sooo much delicious food for past couple of weeks!! ^^ Then we watched Sinbad; Legend of the Seven Seas. Sinbad reminded me slightly of Pirates of the Caribbean, but the story line was totally different. There was adventure, friendship, amazing evil God Eris, romance, and, of course, pirates. I`m curious to know, are all pirate leaders greedy and selfish(at the beginning)? I don`t know if Sinbad is set in an Alternate Universe(AU) or if it`s on Earth, but at one part someone uses the word `SUSHI`! Hehe.

 

~We walked Bruno(the dog) after the movie. Now I`m here, hunched in front of my laptop on a cushion in their living room. Gonna go play Team Fortress 2 now, Toodles <3

~I had goosebumps when the large dragon appeared!! I was like "No! Scales! Go back! Go back!" but it was too late.... I felt all sad... The depressing part was the ending. I knew something bad was going to happen from fighting that dragon, but my thoughts were that the baby dragon would not have a parent dragon. It being Scales was even more saddening... so i cried.... :'( And the time passing thing was shocking. For a moment I thought she was linked to the dragon, so when the dragon died she died. Thank goodness that didn`t happen. Maybe she`d take care of the new baby dragon? ._.

 ~I love this short flim!!!!!!!! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! Why would anyone want to dislike this? Why? I just... I don`t understand them. The level of feels I had for this short flim! It beats sooo many movies I have seen! I want moreeeeee!! <3

~This video is so awesome!! And the animation is gorgeous!! I love the Undertaker and the concept of how people can be controlled so easily by just the words of a single person. This video shows what fear does to the mind, causing humans to turn into murderers. It also has violence, but my 9 year bro watched it with me, sooo.... yeah.

~Also, anyone know good websites where I can download Durarara!! episodes? Thanks :)

14/12/12 - Friday.

 

I saw Misaki again today. As per usual, he swung his bat and yelled insults when he laid eyes on me. I grinned. Misaki's so adorable when he's angry! <3

~SPOILERS ALERT!!!!  I advice you to read no further if you haven`t watched Episode 11 of K!! <3

 

~HAHA!! THE CRACK-POT THEORIES ARE RIGHT!! THEY. ARE. RIGHT!!

~Ok. just. OmG. Reisi has air walking powers. Like. Ichigo`s air walking powers. He just. He walked on air. No surprise there. Wow. Then I thought he died. But he didn`t. He didn`t die and there was not a scratch on him. Kings regenerate. Ok, forgot that.

Lets defy Physics, people!!

~I`ve concluded so far that the Red team has malevolent members and the Blue team is all crazy. Except for Seri. She`s just lame. Yata nearly killed her and she was like "OmG i`m gonna die!" But Fushimi saved her, so everything`s good. I thought Yata doesn`t fight women? =.= Oh, also, Yata`s skateboard defies gravity. He was like, in air and talking to Fushimi and ignoring the laws of physics. Science be damned!! 

 

~Anna got shot at, but there was no blood and no wounds. So i`m guessing she`s the Black King? Suoh went on his own mission and  found Shiro and gang. Souh was all like "We`re gonna settle this now, man!" and Kuroh was all defensive and protective like "You don`t lay a finger on my Shiro!" Then Suoh flicked Kuroh away like he was a fly ._. I was all "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" and they were about to, when that dummy Munakata showed up!

 

~Munakata knows! He knows Shiro`s innocent! I know he knows, that bloody dummy! Why won`t he just tell it to Suoh?? Unless, Suoh knows too... Shiro and gang retreat (they`re good at it) and Shiro`s hurt. Kukuri wanted to fix his wound, then she lost it. She literally lost it. Stabbing Shiro with a glass shard and all! Right after that saved her! Then that fox-spirit-thing appeared.

 

Lets ask Miwa what`s going on, cause i`m lost....

~The fox-spirit-thing reminds me of the `manipulator` from Ghost Trick. Manipulating events and people. I think he`s my favourite character at the moment. The fox-spirit-thing. I think it jumps bodies when you look into the eyes of the body it possesses. Cause, Kuroh shielded his eyes when Kukuri turned to look at him. Is fox-spirit-thing the last king? Like, the White King?

 

~My favourite part!!!! When Shiro confesses that he`s Adolf!! HE IS ADOLF K. WEISMANN!! THE SILVER KING!! THE FIRST KING!! My Gosh! I was about to throw the pillow I was hugging at the TV screen when he confessed! How can this be?? Then who was the long silver haired dude dancing in the blimp?? I wonder what Miwa Ichigen has to say about all this!(Kuroh, press your recorder-thingy!)... Also, where is the Green King and Black King? And who`s the Colourless King then? I demand to know!! Hehe

 

~All shall be revealed in two more episodes.... Overall, this was an interesting episode for me!! <3

27/11/2012 - Tuesday.
~Best shows from the beginning of this year until November. (According to River).
 Movies:
1. The Dark Night Rises(Batman).

~I want iron man`s suit!*pouts*

I love the twist at the ending!! It was just so.... unexpected. I did feel sad when Bane died(he did die, right?) at the ending though. And i really wanted to see Joker again(he did not die, Batman did not kill him. Batman can`t kill, remember? )
2. The Avengers.
I`m on TEAM LOKI *looks around to see if any Avengers are nearby* Yeah. But seriously, the movie was great. I only didn`t fancy the part where they had one main bad guy versus like, THE AVENGERS. A whole team of smart superheroes. Yeah, that bugged me a little. They need more villans. Overall, the movie was cool. *HULK SMASH!!* 
3. Hunger Games.
I really enjoyed the movie. Made me read the book. Book was much better, naturally, but the movie was fun! I`m biased towards strong female lead characters. (You go, Katniss!!)

Animated movies:
1. Rise Of The Guardians.

~Spot the two red elves!!

 Where do i start with this one? Just, the whole movie. From start to end. It was just EPIC!! All the characters are so lovable and unique, the storyline was enjoyable and the animation I fell in love with!! The Tooth Fairy was so adorable and colourful!! Jack Frost is so care-free(Not to mention he can fly! I have a thing for guys who fly)! Then there`s the Easter Bunny and Sandman reminds me of a cuddly golden pillow! Not to forget the Russian Santa! xD I love the Moon, and they have the Moon play such a crucial role in the movie. The movie was just, amazing. I watched the movie in the cinemas at Queensbay on Saturday(24/11/2012) although i was supposed to be studying for my Chemistry exam on Monday. Totally worth it. I REGRET NOTHING!!
 2. The Lorax.
 I`m sorry, i just can`t help myself!! The Lorax is just so adorable!!!! And Once-ler!! And i like anything Dr.Seuss related, they just have so much meaning in them. Plus Dr.Seuss world is filled with life, colour and fun!! The trees are so fluffy!! 
3. Brave.
 I would have said Puss in Boots, but that movie was released last year.(I simply adore that movie because it has cats in it and the animation was awesome!) Brave shows that a girl does not always have to be prim and proper, and i like that. It goes against almost all the other Disney princesses, which is good. Not all princesses like dresses and dances.

Cartoon series:
1. My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic.

~Nothing matters more than FRIENDSHIP!!

 BRONIES UNITE!!!!!!(or in my case, `pega-sisters unite!!`) Heck! I don`t even care if this show was released in 2010, Season 3 was aired this year!! And MLP DESERVES to always be on my favourite cartoon list. Every-pony in that show is just very special. Favourite pony? Pinky Pie!! I just adore her randomness!!!!
2. Avatar : The Legend Of Korra.

~The Legend Of Awesome!!

 I`m not sure if this goes under anime, but whatever. Korra is this kick-ass girl who`s strong and cool and, well, she`s the Avatar!! And Amon makes the story interesting. With his ability to take away bending and all. Awesome bad guys always make good stories more entertaining.
3. Voltron Force. 
Yes, i know. This was released ages ago, but they remade it! Although the remakes were aired in 2010, it`s only now showing in Malaysia. Hey, you can`t blame me for Astro being slow >_< In one episode, Chip returned to his home planet, Balto. The planet is populated by ninja scientists.(Yes, they exist.) But that`s not all, they had to encounter an entire population of NINJA SCIENTIST ZOMBIES!!!! How freaking cool is that??!! Nothing beats NINJA SCIENTIST ZOMBIES. Nothing. Except maybe dancing ninja scientist zombies who sing, but i`m yet to watch such a show.

Anime series:
 1. K Project Anime.
Pretty obvious that this was going to be number one, eh? With me always ranting on about how awesome it is and all. Yeah, it is awesome. Now it`s aired until episode 8 already, and the story is heating up! Did Adolf really kill himself?? I doubt it. He probably teleported somewhere or is not affected by fire or something. Favourite character is Misaki Yata, naturally. My aunty`s favourite character is Kuroh!!(Yes, i got her hooked on K Project, which is an anime. She dislikes anime. Pretty big success for me.) She says she finds his personality very sweet and feminine-like!! Next episode (episode 9) is `Knell`!(Did someone die? Did Adolf REALLY die??)
2. No.6.
Yeah.... This was released last year. But i watched this year, so it still counts in my books!! Even after watching the entire anime, i`m still not sure if Dogkeeper is a girl or a boy.... But my senses say shes a girl, so a girl she shall be! It`s another black and white set of main characters!! xD I like the idea of a `perfect city` and all. Seems like almost all the anime`s i`ve watched this year is set in the future. Hmm....
3. Durarara!!

~Everyone wants to kill Izaya-kun!!

Fine! I give up! Not this year only, it includes all the years up to 2012, ok? Happy now? I`ve just began watching this series, and it seems interesting. My favourite characters at the moment are Celty, Izaya and Shizuo. When Shizuo gets mad at Izaya, buildings topple! I`ve heard and read many positive comments about this show too! My schoolmates who have watched it says the story has a deep meaning to it and the plot is good, because it is confusing.... Still watching this anime, but it`s very captivating!!
